Krista’s Fall Yoga Classes Start Sept. 18

I’m excited to have settled on my fall teaching schedule!  Here it is, plus a few other reflections as a bonus for reading all the way to the bottom.

Mt. Baker Community Yoga
I will be resuming my Wednesday evening classes, 7-8:15 pm, this fall.  The first class at the Mt Baker Community Club will be Wednesday, Sept. 18.  Classes will continue to be open for drop-ins, with a reduced price for those who sign up for six-week series.  The early fall series will be Sept. 18 – Oct. 23rd, with a focus on embodiment and self-love.  I am so excited to see many of you back on the mat soon!!  Please sign up for class here, or by emailing me back and bringing a check for $60 to the first class.

Pre and Post-Natal Yoga
I’ll be teaching yoga for parents and parents-to-be at 8 Limbs Yoga this fall, starting in October.
Prenatal will be Saturdays, 12:30-2 pm, Capitol Hill studio
Postnatal will be Tuesdays, 11am-12:30pm, Wedgewood studio

Private yoga/yoga therapy
I will continue to teach private or semi-private sessions for people with healing goals or looking for personally-adapted yoga practice.  Feel free to contact me to see if this would be a good fit for you.  My phone number and email are below.

My pitch for home practice
This summer I’ve had the incredible opportunity to teach short yoga classes – 20 to 30 minute meditation and movement classes – to parents of very young children with disabilities.  It’s been a powerful experience for me, starting with the fact that I’ve been challenged to articulate to my peers how yoga has supported my path as a parent of a child with disabilities.  But it’s also been wonderful to see how much centering, grounding, and opening can happen in a relatively short practice, and even for someone with no background in yoga or meditation.  In fact, the teaching has liberated my home practice — I’ve become more accepting of my short windows of opportunity to practice, and I embrace a 15 minute morning meditation rather than lament not having a full, wonderful hour-plus for more practice.

I am not trying to dissuade you from coming to my classes — the support of teacher and community are important, too!  But I do invite you to try adding some amount of practice to your week, or every day, and see what happens for you.  There are tons of resources out there to support home practice.  One wonderful, local teacher, Laura Humpf, uploads free guided meditations to her web site, which you can find, here.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I hope to see you very soon.

Love, on and beyond the sticky mat!
– Krista
