October: Upcoming Yoga Series and more news…

I hope you are enjoying the incredible light and settling in of fall.  Here are some updates to my fall yoga teaching schedule.

Mt Baker – Wednesday evenings, 7-8:15 pm
The next “Community Yoga” series at the Mt. Baker Community Club House will be October 30, Nov. 6, 13, 20, Dec. 6, and 13 (excludes Thanksgiving week).   This class is always open to drop-ins – including tomorrow, 10/16 – but many people find the six-week commitment a useful way of blocking off a regular time for practice.  You can register for the series at: https://kristaleehanson.com/classes/register-2/

I am also planning a Thanksgiving/gratitude class for November 27 at Mt. Baker – look for details on that soon.

Mt. Baker – Friday mornings, 6:15 and 7:15 am
I’ll be teaching “Yoga Fridays” at the Mount Baker Clubhouse early Friday mornings!  There will be two classes, 6:15-7am, or 7:15-8am.  These will be organized by the South Side Booty Camp, but the yoga classes are open to everyone.  Like the evening classes, we’ll combine mindful movement, stretching, strengthening, and meditative attention to hopefully start your Friday morning with a long spine and mental flexibility!  You can pre-pay through the web site: http://www.southsidebootycamp.com/booty-camp-details/yoga-fridays/

Prenatal and Postnatal at 8 Limbs Studio
If you are pregnant, or know of new parents looking for yoga, please let them know about my two newest classes:
Prenatal Yoga – Saturdays 12:15-1:45, 8 Limbs Capitol Hill studio
Postnatal Yoga – Tuesdays 11am-12:30 pm, 8 Limbs Wedgewood studio

Yoga for Anxiety and Depression at Lotus Yoga – Wednesday mornings
I’ll be teaching two of the six sessions in Lotus’s upcoming Yoga for Anxiety and Depression.  This class series is open to anyone, whether you’ve experienced anxiety or depression in a fleeting moment, due to a specific situation, or on a daily basis. The class is for everyone.   For more information and to sign up, see https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=21046.  The first class in the series is Wed, 10/30, at 8 am.

I hope this email finds you well – finding inspiration, breath, ground, connection in yoga and beyond.  To end, I offer one of my (many) favorite Mary Oliver poems.  (My parallel “Practicing Yoga” poem would say that “it doesn’t have to fancy arm balances, it could be just standing quietly, or a few deep breaths…” )  Enjoy!!

Praying

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.
